Edusport Basketball have won the BUCS League Undefeated!
On what has been our first year introducing the Basketball to the Edusport family, it has been a hugely successful one. Under the leadership of Technical Director Vincent Lavendier, and Coaches Cory McCabe, Ross Mathieson, the team finished their league season as Champions with an undefeated record.
Not only did our team end the season unbeaten, they romped their way to the title with big wins including a 53-111 victory over Queen Margaret University. The first time the team battle over the 100 point mark!
Head Coach Cory McCabe said this “ I am very proud in all that we managed to achieve in our first BUCS campaign as Edusport Academy. Our players displayed a great attitude in coming together so quickly as a team and delivered seven fantastic wins. Winning promotion to the next tier of competition means that our current players have put next years Academy players in a great position in which they will be able to learn and achieve through their basketball experience.
Going into the year, we all knew there would be challenges ahead in terms of learning a new language, a busy training schedule and also having to manage injuries. I am very grateful to have had such a talented group of players willing to face those challenges head on, something that will set those players up for life beyond Edusport Academy. The fact that opposing teams and coaches were so complimentary on our style of play has been most satisfying.
All of the players have worked hard to develop an identity and selflessness that has saw us execute some fantastic basketball. We are by no means finished yet, we are in the College Cup Semi-Final and are currently working extremely hard to deliver more silverware to the Academy.”
